Google Webmaster Help(ers)

posted in GWHG |

The Google Webmaster Group’s description states, “Welcome to the Google Webmaster Help group, where you’ll find answers from expert users and even Google employees.” Many, many people contribute on a regular basis to a positive experience for the visitors of the group. These regular contributers go mostly unrewarded except for the occasional thank you from someone. This is my own very small effort to at least reward them with a link to their sites that isn’t nofollow’ed or obfuscated by some javascript redirect. I’ll try to update this very post weekly as to let it gain some permanent PR and as a little incentive for everyone’s continued excellent efforts.

Ohh man you’re linking out to NHP? :) Too bad Rick1 still don’t post his url up while always reminding me no one is linking to him, lol.

Many great contributors on that list though. I wish I wasn’t so busy I’d post more, but most of the time you guys have it covered.

Halfdeck, You’ve added plenty! NHP may be a bit off the wall at times, but his site is legitimate and no where near a bad neighborhood, plus I want the amount of post’s to be the democratic method here. Google chooses links to rank, I choose posts. As far as Rick1 goes, he’d get more bees with honey than with than vinegar, but that’s his choice.

Let’s just hope for your sake that NHP doesn’t start ranting over here :)

Maybe you need to measure S:N ratio on the posts as well LOL :D

Halfdeck, you’ve added plenty to the technical side of things. *ponders what halfdeck might be up to*

Is it just me, or wasn’t anyone else amused by their distinction between “expert users” and “even Google employees”.

I’m not sure which they value the most the way it’s written, but I can see someone saying: “Awwww, I only got an answer from a Google employee and not an exper user!”

Well with a frequency of around 1% of the posts, you really can’t count on hearing from an “even Google Employee” Seems to be that they’ve recently changed their posting patterns to answering more benign questions like, “how can I get my site verified?”

The days of Adam’s long posts on what a supplemental result are gone or when he verified that reinclussion is not longer exclussive to totally banned site, though we remember them well.

What’s also amusing is that there is no distinction between “experts” and just people swinging by to propegate some myths. I still see the usual work on your H1 tags and meta keywords to get a higher page ranks posts. Hopefully whoever reads that reads a bit more to realize that person wasn’t an “expert”

Oh gosh, John! I only just stumbled onto your blog after just stumbling onto John Mueller’s birthday party announcement, which I also missed :(

Had I not gone to his site to see what Yogi’s name was doing in the Google co-op subscription feed generated by his GSC program LOL - I’d not have known about any of it.

    I feel like Alice.

Thanks for including me here too, in such nice company. This may explain the increase in hits I’ve had to my site of late, that I’d not investigated at all.
