Google Webmaster Group Participation - Redux

On January 23rd I posted some stats from the Google Webmaster Group. Matt Cutts was kind enough to mention it on his blog, so I figured it would be good to re-visit the stats. The original graphs incorrectly had January listed which in fact included only 3 weeks of data which skewed the trendlines. Whether it be the Hawthorn Effect or just some end of month house cleaning, but the Googlers really picked up their participation towards the end of the month.

Matt Shaved the beard, so he needs to update his logo…

Without further delay, here’s the updated graphs.

Total Participation

By the way the trendline formula is y = 0.5012×3 - 1879.4×2 + 2E+06x - 1E+09 so if you’d like to predict the total number of posts in 2037 feel free.

Posts by Googlers as a Percentage

This is turning out to be a nice sinusoidal wave, which is interesting in it’s own right, looks like we are ready for an uptick in Googlers’ insights if you believe graphs. :)

(note: Nofollow used on the wiki link. If they think all their linked resources are not to be trusted, then I feel the same way about linking to them. I don’t want to link to any “bad neighborhoods“)

Oh, The Clueless

In my daily travels I often come across people that are clueless and really have no idea what they are talking about. I also see budgeting and engineering choices which are way off the mark. In a not so subtle way I like to offer my opinion in picture form in emails, to let them know that they are not even in the ball park.

not even in the ballpark

Another image that needs to be sent often is to those people that insist on typing with their caps lock on.
