I am sorry to hear you won't be in Google groups as much anymore, you were one of the best and most stable resources there.

Yes sir,

I am going to prune down my blog to the bare essentials, like redirects, crawling, exactly as you say...webmastering. Not so sure it will get huge traffic but I am not looking for this.

Meeting cool people like you and others online is what it is all about.

Sometimes you just have to take the first step, and I'm calling you out as an A-lister ((with anchor text even)) Seriously though, I think the days of having the bag of tricks is slowly dying and blogs and posts that cover the basics about how to make your site crawlable, white hat, and withing Googles Guidelines like yours will see an increase in interest.

There are plenty of sites out there that have been SEO'd to death for on-page content, they've got the keyword density all "tuned" up to whatever value they think will work etc, but still have javascript links and framed content! Meanwhile the dub-dub-dub version and non dub-dub-dub version still show up and they internally link to index.html instead of "/".
