5 Reasons why I blog
posted in Webmastering |
I was tagged by Sebastian to take part in the 5 reasons why I blog meme.
- This domain was set up a couple years ago as a test site to run experiments on ecommerce platforms before they went live. After all of that foolishness was over I decided to do something else with it as I had paid for the hosting in advance, and I threw up a blogger blog to make publishing easy…errr…or so I thought I soon realized that blogger was the most buggy interface in the world and switch to wordpress.
- I like to have a place where I can say just about anything and not worry about the theme, indexing, ranking, keywords, etc.
- I use the blog as a archiver of sorts. Writing a quick post about a daily event forever stores it contextually with a time and date stamp. Perhaps my initial feels were wrong and I’ll retract in the comments, but I try to stay disciplined and not edit the original post to keep the record.
- I often use the blog as a quick reference to link to for common problems I see when answering questions in various forums.
- It’s a great way to incite conversation on various subjects through the use of comments. Often I am persuaded by the commenter’s to change my opinion, which is great. We don’t have time to sit around and have online chats but a blog gives you the opportunity to post about a subject and leave it there waiting for comments. I’m often surprised to check my dashboard and see a fresh comment on a subject I’ve long since forgotten.
I’m going to try to tag some people that I really want to hear from…so blog away.
P.S. No cat’s in my house to take pictures of.
