   Google can read the gmail links just fine, they made them. If Google offered you a javascript link on the home page of Google would you scoff at it? I think not…only 218 to go….

    Craig, just don’t get the Im-not-ranked-where-I-want-to-be penalty, it’s the worst and forces people to spend over a year in the forums whining when they could have been writing copy for their site getting the spot they wanted.

    I do prefer hwoever hyphenated domains, makes it easier to retain single words rather than one long, I’m a bit dyslexic that way. Also I don’t like phonetic spelling of stuff - especially if spelled that way by somebody with a heavy Bronx accent or .. (*gulp*) .. Aussie accent!

    So unless it’s too late and you already registered it, that domain should really be spelled as amazon.com . If you did register it maybe make a subdomain called amazon.aa778lka7asdk.lo8a087s.com or in a pinch paypal.aa778lka7asdk.lo8a087s.com - might be good for something.

It only makes sense that some sort of attribution be given to the author of the content. If I cut and paste it from Sebastian’s site, ethically I should include an attribution link, which I always do. As soon as the timed period expires, these commenter’s links will all go non-nofollow as they should. If a visitor likes what they see from a commenter, they’ll follow the link, so it makes sense also that the search engine should follow the link.

    Next time your commenting on a popular blog that gets dozens or even hundreds of comments per post, remember this, and perhaps bring it up to the site owner.

    Now, here’s the sticky wicket. If I am rewarding commenters with a non-nofollow link, are they paying for that link with their content writing? Should I report myself in the spam report with paidlinks in it? Hmmm…I feel so dirty doing the right thing.

    If there is one thing I’ve learned from this ridiculous post it this: A lot of people are searching for links to buy. I’m ranking fairly well (at least for now, blogs tend to disappear after a while) for “PageRank 8″ and “Links for sale” and seeing traffic from it.

    What else can we take from this? Well, adsense on an SEO type subject is worthless, unless I suppose you have some mad traffic, which I do not. Anyone interested in the subject is probably sufficiently ad blind by now. However, I did find that simple affiliate links convert quite well, properly nofollowed because I’ve been assimilated into the collective.

    I wouldn’t say that. I would however say that SEO is not interesting if you take it seriously. :-p

    I like that Google’s Webmaster Guidelines are primarily just good web development techniques otherwise SEO would be too much like work and I’d have given up on it a long time ago.
