I like that Google’s Webmaster Guidelines are primarily just good web development techniques otherwise SEO would be too much like work and I’d have given up on it a long time ago.

If there is one thing I’ve learned from this ridiculous post it this: A lot of people are searching for links to buy. I’m ranking fairly well (at least for now, blogs tend to disappear after a while) for “PageRank 8″ and “Links for sale” and seeing traffic from it.

What else can we take from this? Well, adsense on an SEO type subject is worthless, unless I suppose you have some mad traffic, which I do not. Anyone interested in the subject is probably sufficiently ad blind by now. However, I did find that simple affiliate links convert quite well, properly nofollowed because I’ve been assimilated into the collective.

Next time your commenting on a popular blog that gets dozens or even hundreds of comments per post, remember this, and perhaps bring it up to the site owner.

Now, here’s the sticky wicket. If I am rewarding commenters with a non-nofollow link, are they paying for that link with their content writing? Should I report myself in the spam report with paidlinks in it? Hmmm…I feel so dirty doing the right thing.

I have and always will be anti advertising-for-profit of any kind. I mean who’d want to buy this stuff, whatever it may be? I surely wouldn’t knowing what I know …. or might if … oh, bugger!
