johnweb has the minus 18 penalty

I keep reading how searching for the domain name and if it doesn’t show up as the #1 result that is an indication of a penalty.

The owner of JohnWeb must be figuring out if he’s penalized then, because I sure see it showing up in a lot of search referrals. Ironically this blog shows up as the #1 result, even though until now the term has not even been used on the site. The cached copy (As of 7-2-07) from the search results show the familiar Google disclaimer, “These terms only appear in links pointing to this page: johnweb”

This site has probably gained links to it with the anchor text JohnWeb as I created that as on online identity some time ago when joining something that wouldn’t allow my normal JLH login (too few characters I think).

Is JohnWeb.com really penalized? I doubt it, since it’s just a parked domain that may or may not even have a history. I just think it’s been outranked by another site (this one) for a relatively obscure and non-competitive term.
