    It happens quite often that Alexa shows less and less reach, whilst when you’ve access to the site’s stats you see the opposite.

    I think the reason for the change is Matt Cutts stepping back a little from the forefront and helping to promote other “voices of Google”.

    Although his most popular articles were actually not about Google, or so Matt has said which I have no reason to doubt, I am guessing that overall, most of the traffic to his blog has mainly been SEO motivated.

    That’s just a guess though.
